ACRIC Handbook Launch

The Pioneer Group is the programme lead for Active Citizens Reimagining the Community. ACRIC is developing a range of learning tools for residents, community groups and frontline workers to enable them to have a stronger voice in how their neighbourhoods and cities are developed. We are working alongside a number of European charities and at a recent transnational meeting in Paris, on 24th March 2022, the ACRIC handbook featuring a number of articles and best practices, was launched. Ace Culture

Compass Support is working with a number of European partners to explore everyday culture – making it accessible to all with opportunities to actively engage as ‘artists’ or enjoy in audiences. The project will produce a handbook, two toolkits and a curriculum of learning material for adult educators / learners.

Pioneer Places

Pioneer Places is a network of community organisations across Birmingham. It is hosted and enabled by the Council’s Neighbourhood Delivery and Support Unit. The initiative is part of the Council’s approach to delivering its vision around locality working developed in their policy document – Working Together in Neighbourhoods. The network meets monthly and shares good practice, provides mutual support and a forum with engaging with the city council on local issues. The Pioneer Group are active members for our work in Castle Vale, Stockland Green and Falcon Lodge.

Active Citizens Reimagining the Community

The project “Active Citizens Reimagining the Community” is a new initiative in the area of adult education that aims at training “community champions” who will act as mediators between the community and professionals working in the broader field of city development. Our communities need to be reimagined with new, bottom-up approaches in order to address the needs for their future development and active citizens are the agents for this change!

NHS Vaccine Programme Job Opportunities

Local people from across Birmingham and Solihull are being sought to take on the job of a lifetime. Birmingham and Solihull has been one of the hardest hit areas in the country, and Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on lives, health and the economy. The UK Government and its medical and scientific advisors have been clear that the only safe and sustainable way out of the Covid-19 pandemic is through a vaccine.

Making estate regeneration happen

Head of Partnerships, Ifor Jones, has worked with the Housing Quality Network which provides advice, support and training to housing organisations. Working with Dr Tim Brown, Ifor assisted with the delivery of four national workshops with a particular focus of the Castle Vale story of estate regeneration and how this has been sustained 15 years on. The workshop explored national housing regeneration policies, current funding opportunities and worked on a live scenario where a housing regeneration scheme could be potentially be developed.

Housing Need in Stockland Green

We are pleased to publish the draft housing needs assessment produced for Stockland Green by Neil Morland Associates. This work was commissioned by the Pioneer Group and three other agencies – Birmingham City Council, New Roots and Spring Housing. Follow this article to read the in depth report in full.

Place 2 Work

Place 2 Work is a partnership approach to connecting people into employment, pre-employment training or apprenticeship opportunities. The project seeks to build long term relationships between institutions working in places and employers to develop methods of getting local people in the best position enabling them to access employment.

Falcon Lodge Community Plan

Fifty residents, partners and local stakeholders recently attended a consultation event to agree The Falcon Lodge Community Plan. With the aim to develop a vibrant local economy and pleasant neighbourhood to live, work, learn and prosper, this bold new vision seeks to deliver a happy, healthy and connected community in Falcon Lodge. Neighbourhood Tasking

Castle Vale’s Neighbourhood Tasking’s are bi-monthly meetings for residents to have their say on all things clean, green and safe – not to mention a role in community development too. The public are welcome to all tasking events to voice their concerns and receive updates on what is going on in the community.

HS2 Public Meeting

High Speed 2 is a development project by the Government to construct a new high-speed rail network linking London, the West Midlands, Leeds and Manchester. To discuss any impact this may have on Castle Vale, the Neighbourhood Partnership team held their first consultation meeting with members from the HS2 project this September.
