New gas contractor advances technology for The Pioneer Group

The Pioneer Group has appointed Status Heating Ltd as the new gas central heating contractor for Castle Vale residents. As a result of the partnership, Pioneer staff have full access to the new contractor’s IT system to encourage joined up working and improve efficiencies of service between the two organisations. In addition, residents will be able to manage their own repairs via a new app which will be launching in spring 2020.

To find the new contractor, an impartial and independent third-party specialist ran a lengthy and thorough procurement process over the summer. Status Heating was shortlisted with six other providers, and was selected for quality of service, use of IT to make their services more accessible and value for money.

Gas engineers in the easily recognisable red Status branded vans have been working around the estate since late September 2019. They will provide residents with services such as emergency central heating, gas appliance repairs, boiler servicing and gas safety inspections.

With over 45 years’ experience in the Social Housing sector, the Birmingham based SME impressed The Pioneer Group’s procurement panel with their vision of providing an advanced technological service while keeping the residents at the heart of everything they do.

As part of the procurement process, members of the Residents Scrutiny Panel were integral to the selection of the new supplier. The members are residents experienced in dealing with contractors and scrutinise the services that The Pioneer Group delivers.

Operatives from the previous provider were able to transfer across, so residents will still see some familiar faces!
