Supporting our Community with Free Digital Training

We’re pleased to announce our partnership with Bournville Village Trust and Free@Last to provide free digital training.

The project, called Digital Together, will offer free digital training for over 200 people. It will span across six neighbourhoods in Birmingham, including our community in Castle Vale.

The project takes place from January until March 2026, with a £40,000 grant awarded by the government’s Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund.

This marks a pivotal milestone for our Employment Services team, as it’s the first funding granted to the Skills HUB.

With our partners, we’ll deliver workshops, mentoring and more to boost our residents’ confidence with using technology and support them in building employability skills. We also aim to help them with safer access to online services, using technology for their everyday needs.

How we’re supporting our community

Our teams in Employment, Resident Engagement and Youth Services will be coordinating a range of activities to support our community. As part of the project, we’ll be delivering:

  • Digital skills and job searching workshops
  • Sessions on using technology for everyday needs and online safety
  • Supporting young people to become digital mentors
  • Tailored sessions for young people on online safety, looking at platforms such as Roblox
  • Pop-up events such as intergenerational workshops across our schemes

We’ll also utilise our current engagement outreach opportunities to support residents with their digital skills, from our Listening Hubs to resident meetings.

At the Skills HUB, we’ll still deliver our programme of courses, coordinated with Birmingham Metropolitan College and Birmingham Adult Education Services.
