What is ASB Awareness Week and Why Does It Matter?

Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2025 runs from 30th June to 6th July, and is a national campaign led by Resolve UK to put a spotlight on the impact of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and the importance of safer & stronger communities.

This year’s theme is #MakingCommunitiesSafer, and the week is supported by government bodies (such as the council, police and fire services), housing providers, and voluntary and community sector organisations across the UK.

What is Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)?

The Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 defines antisocial behaviour as: a) Conduct that has caused or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person; b) Conduct that is capable of causing a nuisance or annoyance to a person in relation to that person’s occupation of residential premises; c) Conduct capable of causing housing-related nuisance or annoyance to any person.

Landlords, councils, and the police all look at the impact on individuals and the wider community when deciding how to respond.

ASB can effect people’s quality of life, mental health, and sense of safety. In fact, 1 in 4 people say ASB has made them feel unsafe where they live, and 1 in 7 say it has impacted their mental health.

At a local level, we are working hard to tackle ASB by supporting our customers, promoting early intervention, and working in partnership with police, councils, and community groups. Our approach includes:

  • Responding promptly to reports of ASB
  • Taking a victim-centred approach
  • Using tailored action plans and legal tools when necessary
  • Encouraging community involvement to resolve issues
  • Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting some of the key ASB issues affecting our neighbourhoods, sharing stories, and promoting the support available to residents. Whether it’s through education, prevention, or enforcement, we all have a role to play in making our communities safer.

What to Do If You’re Facing Anti-Social Behaviour

Support is available if you’re experiencing anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood.

If someone’s behaviour is making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, the first step is to try speaking with them if it’s safe to do so. Often, people may not realise the impact of their actions. If that doesn’t help or isn’t possible, please contact us for advice and support.

We work closely with the police, local councils, and other partners to tackle ASB and support those affected. Depending on the situation, we may:

  • Offer non-legal solutions like mediation or behaviour agreements
  • Take legal action, including civil injunctions or possession proceedings
  • Refer you to other agencies such as Victim Support

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing more about how we’re tackling ASB locally and how Resolve, who are leading the national campaign, are supporting communities across the UK. You can follow along and learn more via the link below.

Our latest TSM Results
