Nominate a Volunteer for 2021 Volunteer of the Year Awards

Here at Compass Support, we are celebrating Volunteers’ Week and want you to nominate your local hero, good neighbour or an organisation that has really helped you during the pandemic.

Our new awards will recognise those selfless people who are making a difference to our community.

Volunteers’ Week is supported and celebrated by small grassroots organisations as well as larger, household-name charities, who together run hundreds of activities across the UK. These activities showcase and celebrate volunteers and the contribution volunteering makes in our communities.

We would like to celebrate and honour the inspiring work local people and volunteers have completed in their community over the pandemic. Nominations for the inaugural Volunteer of the Year Awards are now open, with volunteers to be recognised for their commitment and hard work.

We will be thanking those nominated with a VIP style awards ceremony, celebrating their incredible commitment with an afternoon tea, trophy and certificate.

Categories include the following nine categories and entry to the awards is very a simple online form:

  • Young Volunteer
  • Good Neighbour Award
  • Community Volunteer
  • The Extra Mile Award
  • Wellbeing Award
  • Support Volunteer
  • Organisational Award
  • Community Volunteer Group
  • Delivery Volunteer

Leonie Hammond, Health and Wellbeing Project Coordinator at Compass Support, the charitable subsidiary of The Pioneer Group, said:

Volunteers are the backbone of our community, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, dedicating their precious time to support individuals and community groups.

From Parent Champions to Young Leaders, there are even people who don’t class themselves as an official volunteer, yet help others with what they need. Volunteer contribution has led to the success of many of our activities.

When times get tough, volunteers didn’t hesitate to get out there and support more vulnerable or isolated members of our community. Volunteering really makes a difference and now is the time to recognise volunteers, so please get nominating.
