Get involved in Castle Vale’s Games Festival Site

A Festival Site will be coming to Castle Vale between 28 – 29 July giving local people the exciting opportunity to enjoy the upcoming games experience right on their doorstep with family, friends and neighbours.

Selected as one of seven Games Neighbourhood Festival Sites in Birmingham, Castle Vale residents will have the opportunity to watch live events from the games, enjoy food & drink and take in local performances.

Local acts can also be a part of an array of performances produced by and for Castle Vale residents, and which will reflect the rich culture and history of each neighbourhood, and its diverse interests and needs.

Compass Support, the charitable subsidiary of The Pioneer Group, would like to invite residents to be a part of this festival by putting on any activities that will engage the whole community. These range from live performances to games, workshops, installations, walkabout acts and other activities that everyone can get involved in.

Applicants are invited to register by 7 April 2022 by clicking on the below form: https://www.birmingham2022.com/festival/sites/application-form

The only requirements for individuals and groups interested in taking part are:

  • based in Birmingham or the West Midlands region
  • able to perform outdoors, either on a covered stage and/or on grass.

Apart from this, there are no limits to groups or cast size and no limits to the duration of performance, workshop or activity.

It is hoped that the upcoming games will inspire a new era of opportunity in Birmingham, and Compass Support is eager to help link these opportunities to the residents of Castle Vale and the wider Erdington area.

Laura Grigg, Community Hubs Manager at Compass Support, said:

We are absolutely delighted that Castle Vale has been chosen for such a special occasion. The games are all about people coming together to celebrate strength and diversity, and this community couldn’t be a better reflection of that. We have some fantastic assets here; from the swimming pool, to the library, brilliant schools, a terrific nature reserve and even a cycling route. It’s a great place to live and an ideal venue for a community event like this.

When we heard about these satellite events, we immediately knew that we wanted to get involved and nominate Castle Vale. It has been a challenging couple of years but everyone here has looked after one another and, at this point, I think we’re all in need of something special as we start to come back together.
