Happy Healthy Holidays scheme launches in Falcon Lodge

A new holiday scheme is launching in Falcon Lodge to support families with children aged from 5-16 years old.

Happy Healthy Holidays is a city-wide initiative to support, co-ordinate and provide funding for the delivery of free food and activities for children and young people across Birmingham this summer.

Falcon Lodge Community Hub, managed by Compass Support, will be working in partnership with Falcon Lodge Methodist Church to deliver the fun-filled sessions over the course of the school holidays. Open to all Birmingham city residents, the scheme will provide four hours of activities, over four sessions for four weeks and will be free of charge. Kids will be able to get involved with arts, crafts, drama or music themed activities and will be provided with a snack and a meal at around 15:30 pm.

The sessions take place from 22 July – 16 August 2019 at Falcon Lodge Community Hub, with the Falcon Lodge Methodist Church running sessions from 6 – 9 August and 20 – 23 August 2019 from 10:00 am – 15:00 pm.

All sessions are free with a number of spaces remaining for children at the Falcon Lodge Community Hub, where an Annual Community Family Fun Day will celebrate the end of activities at the centre with a BBQ on 16 August 2019. For children under 13, parents will be required to stay for the Family Fun sessions, while over 13s can attend alone.

We understand that for many families, school holidays can be a difficult time which is why we are proud to be hosting this programme of positive activities and free food. Being situated in the heart of Falcon Lodge, our centre aims to support all community-based initiatives and develop more services for people locally in line with the Falcon Lodge Community Plan. The Healthy Happy Holidays programme is being delivered from a number of The Pioneer Groups’ community centres, including The Sanctuary in Castle Vale and Highcroft Community Centre in Stockland Green.
